Yuma Army Air Field - Class of 437

Booklet - c.21cm by 27cm, published by the aviation cadets of Class 43F (Army Air Forces Advanced Flying School), circa 1942 (WSOS8145U3)

Yuma Army Air Field is an airfield in Arizona, and during the Second World War it was in use by the Army Air Force as an advanced flying school. This booklet is a collection of black and white photographs showing the staff and trainees, the buildings and sites in the airfield, and a few of the actual aircraft themselves. There are also some cartoon line drawings, and some poems interspersed with the black and white photo's, all presumably drawn by some of the men.

The name that appears at the top of the front cover 'E.C. Bishop P/O RAF' was the trainee who owned this booklet, and he was training in the USA in 1942, first at Basic Flying School out of Gunter Air Field, and then Advanced training at Craig Field and at Yuma.

The condition of the booklet is generally poor, but is perfect as a reading copy or reference for study. The cover has lots of minor scuffs and blemishes, and nibbling, creasing and wear along the edges and corners, and there is light rusting around the staples, but the staple binding is intact, and all pages are intact and bound. There is yellowing and some light creasing to some inside page edges and corners.
