Young Contemptible, by John Wedderburn-Maxwell

Published privately by the author. 39 pages (A2DWSO)

The Imperial War Museum catalogue indicates that this booklet was published in 1982, and in it the author provides an account of his experiences during the First World War. Born in 1894, John received a commission as a second lieutenant in the Royal Field artillery in 1914, and in November embarked for France as part of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF). Over the next few years he saw action as a gunner on the western front, including at the Somme in 1916, and John finished the conflict as a temporary Major commanding 36th Battery R.F.A. The booklet thus provides a fascinating insight into life in an artillery battery during the war.....

The condition of the booklet is generally very good. The covers have one or two minor scuffs, but the staple spine is intact and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
