From the preface: In 1986 the Wolvey Local History Group published a book entitled Wolvey: A Warwickshire Village. In the process of writing that book, the Group discovered that Wolvey was, as so many English villages are, a fascinating place, with a rich history stretching back across the centuries to prehistoric times. Indeed, there was so much to be said about Wolvey, about this little village in the North Warwickshire countryside, that there was talk of maybe one day producing a second book. Now, thanks to the hard work and dedication of members of the Local History Group and the inhabitants of Wolvey and the neighbouring village of Burton Hastings, that book has come into being.

Situated as it is, on the border between Warwickshire and Leicestershire, close to the ancient roadways of the Fosse Way and Watling Street, Wolvey has always been a village through which a great number of people have passed. Unlike some villages, tucked away in relative tranquillity and barely disturbed at all by the outside world, Wolvey has always been a community that was both tightly knit and yet not insular, a community that has also looked outwards, observing the passage of queens and commoners and latterly, welcoming residents whose work takes them out to the nearby cities and towns of Coventry, Leicester, Birmingham, Rugby, Hinckley or Nuneaton.

This book does not attempt to write the complete history of Wolvey. A great deal of that history has been lost, because it was never written down in the first place, but has been handed on by word of mouth through the generations. We are privileged in this book to have some of that oral history preserved, in the form of memories of the village written down by highly respected elder members of our community. We are also privileged to reproduce photographs of Wolvey as many of us have never seen it, and in consequence we can compare what we know of the village today with glimpses of the past....

The condition of the booklet is generally good. The cover has some minor scuffs, and light wear along the edges and corners, but the spiral binding is intact and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
