Why Socialism - by Albert Einstein, & Socialism is the Future - by Des O'Hagan
Published by Citizen Press in 2002, 16 pages. Used A5 size booklet (S5263)
This booklet contains two essays on Socialism, the first on why Socialism is a desirable goal, and the second on practical questions about achieving it, especially when taken in the light of recent experiences.
The first essay was written by Einstein in 1949, in which he describes chaotic capitalist society as a source of evil to be overcome, arguing that it is the predatory phase of human development. The second essay was given as a lecture in Belfast in 2000, in memory of the Irish Republican and socialist Cathal Goulding. Cathal was a founder member of the re-formed Official IRA after the Second World War, and he became a senior figure in the Republican movement, at a time when the movement for Irish freedom and unification was inextricably linked with socialism and marxism.
Condition of the booklet is generally very good. The cover is clean and tidy (their is a very faint mark where a small price sticker has been removed), the staple spine is intact and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound
