Booklet published by the Westbourne Local History Group in 1998, 42 pages. A5 size booklet (N4551P1)
Westbourne is a small village in the Chichester area of West Sussex, and lies close to the border with Hampshire. This booklet provides a fascinating account of what life was like in the village and surrounding area during the Second World War, and is full of people's personal accounts, memories and reminiscences. Sections include:
- Memories of a wartime schoolboy
- Westbourne's D-Day
- Other wartime memories
- Westbourne War Memorial
- and more!
The booklet is illustrated throughout with several black and white photographs, including the pillbox near Westbourne Avenue, the Camp at the end of Cemetery Lane, the wing of the crashed Heinkel at Stansted, the Free French Camp at Southleigh Road, and more.
Condition of the booklet is generally good. The cover has one or two very minor scuffs, but the staple spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
