West Kent (Q.O.) Yeomanry and 10th (Yeomanry) Batt. The Buffs, 1914-1919, by Charles Ponsonby

Published by Andrew Melrose in 1920, 205 pages. Hardback with Dust Jacket - c.14.5cm by 22cm (A10UWSO)

From the introduction: The following account comences with the history of the 1/1 West Kent Yeomanry, which mobilized for service on 4 August 5th, 1914. From September 23rd, 1915, till the end of the War (and after) its members were on active service overseas; but of those who mobilized in August 1914 only five were on the strength at the Armistice, while of the 540 Officers and men who sailed for Gallipoli on the Olympic in September 1915 only two Officers and 63 men were still serving together in November 1918.

On February 1st, 1917, the Regiment was amalgamated with the Royal East Kent Mounted Rifles, and the two together became the 10th (Yeomanry) Battalion East Kent Regiment, The Buffs. The account relates therefore the doings of the amalgamated Regiment from February 1917 till it was disbanded in June 1919. The contents include:

The condition of the book is generally good. The dust jacket has some minor scuffs and light nibbling and wear along the edges and corners, and the inside of the DJ has signs of a couple of old repairs, but the spine is intact and all pages are intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is an 'Association of Men of Kent' label on the first inside page, and yellowing to the inside pages throughout.
