Trenchard's Brat, by John Careless

Trenchard's Brat, by John Careless
Published privately by the author in 1982, 179 pages. Hardback with Dust Jacket. (S7832YWSO)

From the front inside fly leaf: In 1943 the author joined the Royal Air Force as an Aircraft Apprentice - one of Trenchard's Brats. This book, though necessarily autobiographical, aims to show a way of life rather than paint a picture of the central character. We are taken through life in Halton, and life as an airman was an anti climax until a term with the Royal Pakistan Air Force offered a few luxuries in life. Life follows as a junior officer, before reaching a squadron, and there is life in many parts of thw world, and the career lasted for more than twenty years...

The condition of the book is generally good. The dust jacket has some minor scuffs, and some light nibbling and wear along the edges and corners, but the brown cover boards are clean and bright, the spine is intact, and all pages are intact, unblemished and tightly bound. The book does have slight spine roll along the left hand edge, from where it has been stored flat on the shelves.
