Tragic Maryport Sea Captain's Letters 1890-1898, by Herbert and Mary Jackson

Booklet published by Hirst-Jackson in Maryport in 1991, 40 pages. A5 size booklet (A51BK6)

Signed on the first inside page: "Herbert & Mary Jackson'. Also numbered '278' on the same page.

This booklet collects together letters from martitime captains in the 1890s, specifically from the Dunboyne, Ladas and Midas. The booklet is illustrated with several black and white photographs

Herbert and Mary Jackson were local historians who wrote several booklets and books on the history of Maryport and the wider Cumberland area. They published these books and booklets themselves, and their publications have now become quite rare and very much sought after by people with an interest in the subject.

Condition of the booklet is generally good. The covers have several minor scuffs and blemishes, and some light nibbling along the edges, but the staple spine is intact and all pages are intact, unblemished and bound.
