Through the Years, by Bev Pegg, subtitled 'A 75 years scrapbook of manufacturing in Cradley 1921-1996'
A4 size booklet published by Cradley Castings Limited in 1996, 50 pages (S8279YWSO)
This booklet provides a fascinating pictorial history of Cradley Castings Limited, a manufacturing company based near Halesowen in the West Midlands.
The company was founded in 1921 by William Pegg as the Cradley Chain and Manufacturing Company and it prospered. Unfortunately for the company, however, over time chain making declined and in response the firm expanded it's foundry work. In 1957 the company changed its name to Cradley Chain and Castings to reflect these changes, and in 1972 another name change saw the company become Cradley Castings Limited. Bev Pegg, grandson of William, took over as managing director, and the company expanded locally - buying up all the houses and land around Mill Street and making them part of the factory premises.
The company was still going strong in the late 1990's, and in 1996 Bev Pegg compiled this illustrated history of the company (unfortunately the company closed some years later).
The condition of the booklet is generally good. The cover has several minor scuffs and creases, and some light wear along the edges and corners, but the staple spine is intact and all pages are intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
