Thinking about Power - The case of returned volunteers
Published by Ex-Volunteers International (EVI) under the Sponsorship of the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) in 1973.
A5 size booklet, 40 pages. (S8295BKWSO)
From the Preface: The idea of publishing a booklet on the thinking and action of returned volunteers grew out of the 18th conference of the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service, held in February 1973. At this occasion, a resolution was adopted asking CCIVS to promote a better utilization of the experience of returned volunteers for development-oriented action within the industrialised countries.
Ex-Volunteers-International, the international coordinating body of local and national ex-volunteer associations, agreed to provide tor a publication which would show aspects of the activities of EVAs. An excellent opportunity presented itself when the 5th EVI conference was held in August 1973, in Gothenburg (Sweden). Representatives from various action groups and EV As from Western countries gathered in order to take a critical look at their present activities and to develop ideas about new kinds of action at home. The conference proved to be a very rewarding confrontation of ideas and experience. The participants did keep the emphasis on a local and national level, which is necessary for action to be effective.
The condition of the booklet is generally good. The cover has one or two minor scuffs, and some yellowing and discoloration along the edges, but the staple spine is intact and all pages are intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is yellowing to the inside page edges throughout.
