By Graham Maxtone and Mike Cooper
Book published by the Great North of Scotland Railway Association, 160 pages. Paperback - c.16cm by 24cm (N6943)
From the rear side cover: 'Did you know there used to be a railway line and station here?'. 'Get away, when was that then?'. 'Over 60 years ago and you could catch a train to Aberdeen from this very spot, aye at least four times a day'. 'I didn't know that tell me more'?....
As the decades slip by the new generations have never known or experienced travelling by rail from the heart of the Buchan, through glorious Deeside or enjoyed the riverside beauty of Speyside. In another 40 years time there will nobody left who has actually done so either. This is the first and so far the only Then and Now book focussing exclusively on the former lines of the old Great North of Scotland Railway that emanated from Aberdeen to all corners of the north east. The photos are from the extensive GNSRA archives. The majority of the older photos have not been published before.
The condition of the book is generally very good. The covers are clean and bright, the spine is intact and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is an old price printed and a small price sticker on the rear side cover.
