Published by the University of North Wales in 1984, 270 pages. Spiral bound paperback (S6533YWSO)
Now long out of print, this book provides a detailed scholarly collection of medieval poetry.
From the introduction: Almost two centuries elapsed between the death of Chaucer in 1400 ad the emergence of the next indisputably major poet writing in the English language....possibly because no central figure adequatley bridges the gap between Chaucer and Spenser, the period has suffered neglcet at the hands of critics and literary historians until recently. Not only was this neglect an undeserved slight on the abilities of many excellent poets, but it also ignored the importance of the years 1400 to 1580 in ensuring the continuance and development of the British poetic tradition.....
Condition of the book is generally ok. The covers have some minor scuffs and blemishes, and the rear cover has become partially detached from the spiral binding, but the remainder of the book is bound, and all pages are intact and unblemished. Their is some light yellowing to the inside page edges throughout
