The Royal Scot and her Forty Nine Sister Engines, by S.P.B. Mais
Book published by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company in 1928, 67 pages. Softback (S6325)
This book, published in the late 1920's, is a fascinating account of the 50 Steam Locomotives of the Royal Scot Class that were built for the constituent companies of the LMS. The book includes several small black and white photographs and line drawings, and a large three page fold out drawings of the Royal Scot at the very back.
Condition of the book is generally very poor, but is perfect as a reading copy or reference for study. The cover has lots of scuffs, and the edges are almost completely covered in nibbles, wear and small tears. Inside, the main body of the book is starting to come away from the front cover, which is seperated from the main book along around three quarters of the first inside page, several inside pages are also starting to become detached along the bottom left hand corner of the binding, and a string binding has been punched in the top left hand corner of the book. But all pages are intact and still bound. Their is a name in pen on the front cover, and a couple of small pencil annotations and marks to a couple of the inside pages.
