The Life of Richard Cobden, by John Morley, 2 Volume Set
Published by Chapman and Hall in 1881, 468 and 485 pages. Used Hardbacks (S4646)
Richard Cobden (1804-1865) was a nineteenth century manufacturer and Radical and Liberal statesman, and he is perhaps best known for his association with John Bright and the formation of the Anti-Corn Law League. This two volume set offers a fascinating and immensley detailed biography of his life, politics and achievements....
The condition of the books are generally ok. The green cover boards have several scuffs and blemishes, and nibbling and bumping along the edges and corners, but the spines are intact and all pages are intact and tightly bound. The set came from the university of Sheffield library, and so both volumes have inscriptions on the second inside page, withdrawn stamps on the facing page, and library stamps on a few inside pages. Their is some foxing and discoloration to the first and last few pages, and both volumes have a small numerical annotation in pen on the second page. Their is also some wear to the binding along the inside front cover on volume one, and both volumes have considerable bubbling throughout.
