The Last Merseyrail Signal Boxes and their Heritage - Part 2 (The Northern Line)

Book published by Merseyside Railway History Group, 80 pages. Large A4 size softback (N4997PE)

This book is illustrated throughout with lots of colour and black and white photographs and line diagrams, and provides a fascinating account of signal boxes that were in operation on the Northern line of Mersey Rail...

From the introduction: Our signal box survey is primarily intended to record the interesting collection of boxes on the electrified Merseyrail network which were replaced, at a stroke, by commissioning of the IECC installation at Sandhills in 1994. However, in view of the interesting history of mechanical signalling on the network, we have not confined our brief and have also considered the highpoints of some of the key locations on the network. • Southport Station
  • Portland Street
