The town of Banstead lies in Surrey on the border with Greater London, just east of Epsom, and although strictly a town it is often referred to by locals as 'Banstead Village'. This book provides a fascinating history of the town and its people over many centuries, and it begins with what is known about the occupation of the  Romans and the Anglo Saxons in the district. The book then goes on to describe  century by century, detailing the major events, people and conditions in Banstead up until  1840, and setting the history of the town against the general historical background of the times

The book is illustrated throughout with several black and white photographs, drawings and maps, and there is a small price sticker on the rear side cover.

Please note, if you are interested in this book, I also have volume 2 listed on the website - this second volume brings the history of the town up to modern times.
