Book published by the Barnes and Mortlake History Society, 28 pages. A5 size booklet (N6315X2)

From the preface: It is not often that the history of a street can be researched in detail from its planning stage to its demolition. West Road has proved to be a notable exception. Access to the Census returns for 1901 and 1911, newspaper articles, Barnes Urban District Council minute books, Kelly's Directories, architects' plans and the memories of the people who lived in the road, meant that I was able to put together an intimate picture of life in a 20th century street.

There are sections on West Road Mortlake, West Road's Origins - Fairfax House, the 1911 Census at West Road, The First World War, growing up in West Road - one girls memories, and West Road in later years.

The condition of the booklet is generally good. The cover has one or two minor scuffs but is clean and bright, the staple spine is intact and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is a small price sticker on the rear side cover.
