From the rear side cover: Little has been written about Bomber Command's last punitive expedition against Germany during the second world war. With Hitler dead and the German war machine in disarray, there was a euphoria throughout the command with everyone well aware that the end was near. Then why, out of the blue,  on the morning of the 2nd May 1945 were orders sent out that aircraft would be required for 'maximum effort' operations that night?  In his book the author has used his personal knowledge and contacts, accompanied by extensive research, to recount what happened on that fateful night in May 1945......

The condition of the book is generally good. The covers have one or two minor scuffs, but the spine is tight and intact, and all pages are intact, unblemished and tightly bound. their is some wear on the inside title page along the left hand edge, where it was fixed to the inside cover at the time of publication, and has since come away
