The Fascinating Story of Sidmouth's Cinemas & Theatres, by John Griffiths

Published by the Sid Vale Association, 38 pages. A5 size Booklet (N7763)

This booklet is illustrated throughout with lots of small colour and black and white photographs, and it provides a fascinating short history of the cinemas and theatres in the Devon town of Sidmouth. The booklet begins with an overview of the history of theatres and cinemas, followed by a short section on Arthur Ellis, and there are then entries for the various theatres and cinemas themselves, including the Manor Hall/Pavilion, the Drill Hall on the promenade, Trumps Winter Garden on Fore Street, the Cinema on Fore Street, the Radway Theatre, the Grand on the High Street, the open air bandstand in Connaught Gardens, and the Victoria Hotels private cinema.

The condition of the booklet is generally very good. The covers are clean and bright, the staple spine is intact, and all pages are clean, tidy, unblemished and tightly bound.
