Booklet published by the Pike and Shot Society in 2000, 33 pages. A5 size booklet (N7449X2)
This booklet provides a fascinating insight into the history of English soldiers, soldiering and military organisation in the late 16th century. It contains two essays - the first is titled 'Thoughts on the organisation of English bands or companies at the time of the Spanish Armada' and comprises the vast bulk of the booklet. The second, covering the final 7 pages, is titled 'The Trained Bands of London and their standards in the reign of Elizabeth'.
The condition of the booklet is generally very good. The cover has one or two very minor scuffs but is clean and tidy, the staple spine is intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
