The Dockers' Next Step - An Anti-Devlin Report
Published by The Week and Humberside Voice in 1966. 36 type written pages. Booklet - c.20cm by 25cm (WSOU3)
This booklet was published following the publication of 'The Final report of the Committee of Industry under the Rt. Hon. Lord Devlin into certain matters concerning the Port Transport Industry' in 1965, and outlines what dockers should do next. Sections include Port Management, Organisations of Port Labour, The Employers of Port Labour, the Contradictions of Devlin, the need for rationalisation, the Dockers Charter, the National Port Authority, Portworkers Councils and Port Labour, Functions of Portworkers Councils, and Constitution of Portworkers Councils. There are also several appendices.
The condition of the booklet is very poor, but is perfect as a reading copy or reference for study. The covers are tatty, with lots of scuffs, creases and wear, and discoloration and staining along the edges (most noticeable in the bottom right and left hand corners of the front cover). Inside, the staple spine is intact and all pages are intact, unblemished and bound.
