From the preface: Preface To the second edition of "The Diehards in Korea" by Colonel Andrew Man, DSO, OBE, officer commanding 1st Battalion the Middlesex Regiment (DCO) in Korea 1950 - 1951. The limited first edition of "The Diehards m Korea" was originallyproduced in 1975 through the initiative of Colonel John Shipster, the Editor. We continue to be most grateful to him, as well as to Brigadier Roly Gwyn and to General Sir John Willoughby who together provided most of the narrative and sketches. I am happy to have been invited to write a brief Preface to this second edition. It is a repeat of the first with the addition, this time in every copy, of certain of my personal reminiscences - slightly reduced in length. Its particular attraction is its availability to everyone who served with us In Korea. As the years pass, our memories become inevitably less reliable, so I commend this new edition of "The Diehards in Korea" as a handy and factual record of the achievements of a fine Battalion - frequently unsupported and "under reported" too - in the face of what often seemed to be unsurmountable odds. We have indeed reason to be proud of each other, and especially of those who are no longer with us.

The condition of the book is generally ok. The cover has several minor scuffs and blemishes, including an area of wear on the front cover, and there is also some light wear along the edges and corners (including some bumping in the bottom right corner which has caused a small nic along the outside spine), but the spine is intact, and all pages are intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
