Subtitled 'Sun Fire Office inventories of merchants and manufacturer’s property, 1726-1770', this book details a thousand or so entries, and is thus an invaluable reference work in identifying the families engaged in the trade and cloth manufacturing in the county. Over 50 Devon towns and villages involved in the woollen industry are represented, and the entries are recorded in an A to Z format by family name, and grouped by their location. Below is an example of entries that appear under the heading 'Ashburton'.

Condition of the book is generally very good. The cover has one or two very minor scuffs, but the spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
