From the foreword: The statue of an Angel situated in the grounds of Crosby Primary School on Frodingham Road, Scunthorpe, is a well known landmark and memorial. It was erected from donations and collections at the instigation of George Taylor, the first headmaster of the school, in remembrance of 59 young men of Crosby who answered the "Call to Arms" and paid the supreme sacrifice during the First World War.
Research into the lives and background of these young men has been painstakingly carried out by a group of local people. Although personal information from relatives of the majority of the men has been forthcoming, some of these Heroes died leaving no direct descendants to bear witness. I recomend this book to anyone interested in the history of Crosby in particular and Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire in general...
