This book provides a fascinating account of the castles in North Wales, and is illustrated throughout with lots of black and white photographs.
From the rear side cover: This book is a comprehensive guide to the history and architecture of 38 castles and fortified houses dating from the 12th century to the 15th century in the counties of Anglesey, Caernarfon, Denbigh, Flint and Meirionnydd. Following an introduction outlining how castles in North Wales developed are two Gazetteers illustrated with many plans, photographs and old prints. Included in the gazetteer are the famous castles built by Edward the First and his barons in the late 13th century, and also all the castles built by the Welsh princes which are generally less well preserved and some mostly forgotten about. Two additional lists give some information on another 35 sites, mostly earthworks on private land.
The condition of the book is generally very good. The covers are clean and bright, the spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is an old price printed and a small price sticker on the rear side cover.
