Book published by Folly Publications in 2001, 88 pages. Paperback (N5610)

This book provides a fascinating account of the castles of Shropshire, and is illustrated throughout with lots of small black and white photographs, as well as drawings, maps and floor plans.

From the rear side cover: This book is a comprehensive guide to the history and architecture of castellated buildings dating from the mid 11th century to the late 15th century in the county of Shropshire. Following an introduction describing the historical background, and the development of fortified buildings in the county, is a gazetteer illustrated with many plans and photographs. The book includes major stone castles, moated or embattled manor houses and town defences, plus many earthwork sites, some of which only ever had timber buildings and palisades.

The condition of the book is generally very good. The covers are clean and bright, the spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. The book does curve very gently along the left and right hand edges, from where it has been stored flat on the shelves.
