From the introduction: This book records the story of the factory from its commencement with a dozen employees through its years of expansion to its peak of over 300 employees. It illustrates many of the 100 plus types of lamps manufactured (some of which were unique to Buckie) and describes the intricate skills required in the assembly/production processes. i.e. nimble fingers, complete concentration coupled with good eyesight and the pride taken by the workforce to turn out quality products.

The personal recollections of former employees form a large part of the book and paint a broader picture not only of the manufacture of the lamps but the other workings in the factory, the social aspects and the opinion given by almost every former employee that "The Bulb Factory" was a very enjoyable place to work with good safety standards, good wages and a place where many lasting friendships were forged...
