The Bridport Charter of 1253 - Making and Meaning, by Katherine Barker

Booklet published by the Bridport History Society in 2003, 64 pages. A4 size booklet (S5950)

This booklet provides a history of the Bridport Charter in the 13th century, and is based on a lecture that was given to mark the 750th anniversary of the granting of the charter in 1253.

Bridport is a market town in Dorset, and the booklet provides a fascinating account of the town in the middle Ages. The booklet includes several black and white photographs, maps and drawings, and will delight anyone who has lived or grown up in the town, as well as people with a more general interest in the local history of the surrounding area....

Condition of the booklet is generally good. The cover has some minor scuffs and blemishes, and some rusting and discolouration around the staple spine, and several pages at the back of the booklet have started to become detached from the binding, but all pages are clean, intact and unblemished
