Soudley Valley Coaches, by Colin Martin

Booklet published privately by the author in 2009, 32 pages. A5 size booklet (N5922)

From the introduction: For seventy years, until their sad demise in 1998, Soudley Valley Coaches had been a well-respected business based in Gloucestershire's Forest of Dean. Their core service, running the seven miles from Blakeney to Cinderford, passing through the valley from which they took their name, provided a vital link with the outside world for the folk living in what would otherwise have been a rather isolated area. But as the years progressed this service was to become but a minor part of the business which diversified to cover long-distance express services, tours, excursions, contracts and private hire work in addition to the development of several other local services.

From the first Model T Ford of 1927, the fleet had grown to some 24 coaches by the 1960s, and was at that time the Forest's second largest coach operator. This booklet is published as a record of the company and its vehicles, upon which many Foresters will have travelled to school, to work, to shops or even on holiday...

The booklet is illustrated throughout with lots of black and white photographs of the vehicles themselves.

The condition of the booklet is generally excellent. The covers are clean and bright, the staple spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
