Mary Madge Lascelles was born on the 7th February 1900, the eldest of 6 children, to William Horace Lascelles (1868-1949) and Madeline Barton. Her father was the son of Henry Thynne Lascelles, the 4th Earl of Harewood (1824-1892), who himself had a total of 14 children over 2 marriages (Mary's father was one of the 8 children from the second marriage). She grew up in Grenada in the Caribbean, and later taught at Somerville College in Oxford, and this book is a collection of over 50 of her poems.
Condition is generally very good. The cover boards have one or two minor scuffs but are clean and bright, the spine is intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. The right hand side of the title page and all bottom page edges were rough cut at the time of publication.
