Royal Air Force 38 Group

Royal Air Force 38 Group
A5 size booklet, 32 pages, printing on mostly one side only. (S8332WSO)

No date of publication, although the booklet seems to go up to around 1975, so this probably puts publication a little after that.

The slim booklet is mostly made up of one or two photographs on each page, with a caption underneath. As the printing is on one side only, the contents are rather limited.

From the first inside page: No 38 Group is the mobile element of Strike Command comprising fighter/ground attack and helicopter squadrons. The Group also controls all the air transport resources of the Royal Air Force.

The Group's tasks range from strategic and tactical air mobility for all British Forces to the full range of air support for ground forces deployed within the NATO area. Also within 38 Group are mobile ground units capable of providing ground defence and radio communications for the flying squadrons when deployed outside the United Kingdom.

Recent examples of the peacetime employment of these forces are the massive evacuation of British people from Cyprus in 1974 and the reinforcement of the small garrison in Belize in 1975.

The condition of the booklet is generally good. The cover has several minor scuffs, but the spine is intact and all pages are intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
