Roseville - Wartime and the Fifties, by Raymond Smout

Published by The Kates Hill Press in 2007 as part of their 'Pocketful of Memories' series, 40 pages. A5 size booklet (N6157)

In this booklet the author provides a brief account of his childhood living and growing up in the Roseville area of Dudley in the West Midlands.

From the rear side cover: This booklet.... brings to life the sights, sounds, and smells of a bygone age through the words of writers for whom those times were a reality. Raymond describes his childhood in the district of Roseville. From his early years when there was a war on to the 1950s he portrays school and leisure, transport, health and local characters. It is a very different world from today not only in amenities but also in attitudes. Raymond contrasts these with pithy humour to add another title to the series and paint a picture of where we have come from.

The booklet is in good overall condition. The cover has one or two very minor scuffs, but the staple spine is intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is a small price sticker on the rear side cover.
