Records of the Borough of Aldeburgh - The Church, by Arthur T. Winn

Published privately and printed by Stephen Austin & Sons in 1926, 53 pages. Paperback - c.14cm by 21.5cm (A6D)

From the preface by the author: Very little information about our Parish Church is to be obtained at the proper quarter, namely, at Norwich; and it is to be regretted that the transcripts of our Registers containing the Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, also, are not to be found there, although the Inventoryes or Counterpaynes, as they are called in the Chamberlains' Accounts, were duly forwarded from Aldeburgh to the proper authorities in our Diocese, according to the Act of Parliament passed in 1597 and of which Act the careful regulations and orders for their preservation were embodied in the 70th Canon in 1603. Some of the little bits of information and extracts relating to the Church and forming the contents of this booklet appeared in Notes and Queries, 1920-1923; and some furnished part of a lecture on " Old Aldeburgh ", and are printed by request of friends.

The condition of the book is generally good. The cover has some minor scuffs and blemishes, and light wear along the edges and corners, but the spine is intact, and all pages are intact, unblemished and bound.
