Rails to the Pier - The Story of the Stokes Bay Railway and Pier, by Peter J Keat
Booklet published by the Gosport Railway Society, 30 pages. A5 size booklet (N5713)
The short booklet provides a fascinating (albeit brief) history of the branch line running from Gosport to the Stokes Bay pier, and is illustrated throughout with several small black and white photographs. There are sections on the background to the line, the opening of the line, Shipping, Gosport Road Station, the end of the line, Industrial Works, and an Accident.
From the inside front cover: This booklet aims to give a brief history of the construction and running of the short branch line from Gosport to the pier at Stokes Bay. The majority of the information has been drawn from the archives of the Gosport Railway
Society and from a 1976 research paper which was prepared by Mr H. Hughes and donated to the Society.
The condition of the booklet is generally very good. The covers are clean and bright, the staple spine is intact and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is a small price sticker on the rear side cover.
