Book published by the Merton Historical Society in 2002, 150 pages. Paperback (N6884)
From the rear side cover: Pollards Hill, Commonside East and Lonesome is the third in Merton Historical Society's Mitcham Histories, written by E N Montague. It brings together the results of some 40 years of research, and embraces that part of the Borough lying to the east of the railway line from Mitcham Junction Station to Strcatham, abutting the boundaries of the London Boroughs of Lambeth and Croydon to the north and east and Mitcham Common on the south. The transformation which has occurred within living memory from what remained, until the early 20th century, a rural and isolated corner of Mitcham to one of the most populous parts of the London Borough of Merton has been dramatic, and provides an interesting study in local history.
The condition of the book is generally very good. The covers have one or two minor scuffs but are clean and bright, the spine is intact and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
