One of the ever popular Osprey series of books in the Campaign series, this book contains detailed information on the key units, uniforms, and weapons & equipment used during the campaign, as well as the battles, skirmishes and engagements fought.

On the night of 1 August 1798 a British fleet under the command of Rear-Admiral Horatio Nelson met a French fleet under the command of Admiral Franois-Paul Brueys D'Aigalliers. By morning the British had won a near-complete victory: only two of the 13 French ships-of-the-line escaped and the rest were either captured or destroyed. It was the first major independent victory of Nelson's career but more importantly it crippled the French effort in Africa by denying them access to the suplies and support from the sea. This book uses the latest research, new maps and specially commissioned artwork to tell the story of one of the great sea battles of the Napoleonic era.

The book is illustrated throughout with lots of black and white photographs, drawings and maps, as well as several in full colour
