From the introduction: It seemed an obvious progression. My father, S. Miles Davey, having enjoyed photographing so many of Bristol's trams, encouraged me to continue in this vein by recording some of London's trams before they slipped away, which turned out to be five years later. After that there were only buses to photograph. I was given a Micky Mouse box camera, on my twelfth birthday, which accepted Ensign films of 6-on. One thing he taught me was to "keep the negs" and so I numbered them from 1 onwards, whatever the subject. Having experimented on the family, the first London tram I took was negative 43 being the view opposite. Some of the shots are dreadful, but now, 50 years later they seem to have some sort of curious historic interest.

So the idea came to me to save these non-masterpieces by publishing them in this format, i.e. in chronological order. "When I photographed trams, I had two ends from which to choose", said my father, "so, when you take the buses don't necessarily go round to the front, as the backs are also worth recording". So if the light was better "that end", this I did. One has to remember, there were no books or lists of vehicles available back in those days; we wrote down, ourselves, what we came across, collecting and swapping information to create our own pages of listings. So, with thanks to my late father, I offer my first 44 views showing a "whatever I came across" collection of trams and buses around London not long after the war, and a selection of that well loved RM class in the early seventies.

The condition of the booklet is generally good. The covers have one or two minor scuffs and blemishes, but the staple spine is tight and intact, and all pages are intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is a small price sticker on the rear side cover.
