Longton is a small village in Lancashire that lies a few miles south-west of Preston, and this book collects together the memories of people who have lived, grown up and worked in the village and surrounding area over several decades.
From the introduction: In this closing decade of the 20th century we fast approach a new millenium and much of our history id disappearing forever. So for the village I undertook the mammoth task of gathering together the memories of residents of many years, that we may picture again how life in Longton and the area used to be at the beginning of the 1900s and even earlier. So step back in time and see village life as it was them....
Condition of the book is generally ok. The cover has several scuffs, blemishes and creases, and nibbling, creasing and wear along the edges and corners, but the spine is intact, and all pages are intact and bound. There are some pen marks in the bottom right hand corner of the front cover, and a very small water stain in that corner that extends through to the first 30 or so pages)
