Liberty Print Works - Wartime Remembrances, by W.J. Rudd
Booklet published by the Merton Historical Society in 1993, 16 pages. A4 size booklet (N4802)
This booklet provides a fascinating (albeit brief) account of the authors experiences as a lad working at the Liberty Print Works during the Second World War. The silk printing works were situated on Station Road along the River Wandle in Merton, and the author started work their just as work broke out. Over the next few years he worked in the '1929' shop, then as a screen printer, and then as an assitant in the Dye House, and his memories of those years provide a wonderful insight into life at the works during that time....
The condition of the booklet is generally good. The covers have one or two very minor scuffs and nibbling along the edges, but the staple spine is intact and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
