Late Victorian Hanney - An Agricultural Community

Published by the Hanney History Group in 1994, 85 pages. A5 size booklet (S7099)

This booklet provides a fascinating history of the villages of East and West Hanney in the 1870's and 1880's. Situated in the vale of the White Horse in what is now Oxfordshire (but which was historically part of Berkshire), the two villages lie a few miles north of Wantage, and over a hundred years ago most of the village folk worked in agriculture. Sections in the booklet include cultivating the land, land ownership, farmers, labourers, shops and trades, Hanney School, and more!

The condition of the booklet is generally ok. The cover has several minor scuffs and creases, and some light nibbling along the edges and corners, but the staple spine is tight and intact, and all pages are intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
