The people in the book include Cecil George Ashton (an early RAF officer), William Bell (a soldier with the 24th Battalion Royal Fusiliers, who died at the Somme in the First World War), Frederick Brewster (killed during the Battle of Jutland), Arthur Brooking (An Indian Navy Commander), Richard Bufton (a sailor at the Siege of Sveaborg), Arthur Clayton (who won the Distinguished Service Cross during the Second World War), Valentine Francis Gibbs (who took part in the Zeebrugge raid in WW1), Frank Hopkins (a Fleet Air Arm pilot who became an Admiral), Charles Knapman (killed dirig the Second World War while the Royal Navy were defending Tobruk), Thomas Nichols (who served in the Baltic campaign of the Crimean War), and many more!

The book is illustrated throughout with several small black and white photographs, and is a must read for anyone interested in the local history of this part of Devon and the people that lived their, as well as people with a more particular interest in Britain's military history. Please note there is a small price sticker on the rear side cover.

The condition of the booklet is generally very good. The cover has some minor scuffs and blemishes, but the staple spine is intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
