King Alfred Motor Services - A Fleet History, by Andrew G. Saunders

Booklet published privately by the author in 1992, 40 pages. A5 size booklet (N5768)

From the foreword: This booklet is a history of the vehicles operated by the erstwhile King Alfred Motor Services of Winchester. Although primarily a record of the vehicles operated, a brief history of the chisnell business itself is included. The booklet follows the format used by the PSV Circle in its Fleet Histories, with vehicles listed year by year, new vehicles listed before acquistions in each year. All known information on the subsequent histories of each vehicle is included, and in some cases includes information not previously published by the PSV Circle.

Vehicle data is arranged in the following order for each vehicle: Registration number, Chassis make, type and number, Body make, type and seating capacity. Body details are presented in the now conventional form of seating capacity, preceded by a code indicating the body type and followed by a code indicating entrance position. The seating capacity for double deckers is shown as the upper saloon capacity followed by the lower saloon capacity.

The booklet includes 8 pages of black and white photographs showing the vehicles themselves (with two photographs per page, thus totalling 16 photographs of different vehicles)

The condition of the booklet is generally excellent. The covers are clean and bright, the staple spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is an old price printed on the rear side cover.
