From the rear side cover: 'Just a card to say' is the opening of so many messages on postcards written by the million in the first quarter of the twentieth century. In 1902 the Post Office first allowed postcards with a picture filling one side and the message and address on the other. They rapidly became popular at a time when the postal service allowed people to receive a card and get a reply delivered on the same day. This book contains the pictures from fifty postcards showing scenes and activities in the Urban District of Oldbury in the West Midlands sent between 1902 and the mid-1920's. They give an impression of what Oldbury, Langley and Warley looked like a century ago and what it was like to live there...
The condition of the book is generally excellent. The covers are clean and bright, the spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound
