Ilkeston is a small town situated on the banks of the River Erewash in Derbyshire, and it lies a couple of miles from the very western edge of the city of Nottingham.

From the introduction: This booklet traces the history of the electric tramway system of the town.... the Ilkeston line went through two distinct stages. From 1903 to 1916 it was a corporation-owned facility, followed by a slightly longer period (1916-1931) under the aegis of the Notts and Derby Tramway Company. For most of its life it struggled for viability, as did many concerns throughout the country that also faced an almost stagnant populace and ageing equipment. Nevertheless the Ilkeston Tramway endured for some 27 years, and this booklet will hopefully stand as a definitive record of this one segment of a short lived but fascinating period in the development of Derbyshire's transport history....

The booklet includes 35 pages of black and white photographs (numbering 57 photographs in total).

Condition of the booklet is generally good. The cover has one or two very minor scuffs, but the staple spine is intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. Their is a small price sticker on the rear side cover and the booklet curves very gently upwards along the left and right hand edges, from where it has been stored flat on the shelves.
