I Saw Three Ships, by John Mayberry
I Saw Three Ships, by John Mayberry, subtitled 'The Story of HMS Hamadryad, Cardiff;s Hospital Ship 1866-1905, and the Gospel and Educational Ships HMS Thisbe & HMS Havannah'

Published by Silverlink, 32 pages. A5 size booklet (S7192)

From the rear side cover: HMS Hamadryad was a 46 gun 'Lede' class frigate of the Royal Navy, and she was built betwen 1819 and 1823 at Pembroke Dock. But she never saw active service, and for over 40 years the warship was laid up at Devonport. Then, in 1866, the Admiralty ordered the breaking up of the ship....
But she was reprieved for further use as a Hospital ship at Cardiff, where she served until 1905, when the shore based Royal Hamadryad Hospital opened. The fascinating story of the Hospital Ship is told in this booklet
Condition of the booklet is generally  ok. The cover has one or two minor scuffs and blemishes, and some light wear along the edges, but the staple spine is intact, and all pages are intact, unblemished and tightly bound
