I Remember - Childhood Memories of Wartime Mitcham, by Irene Bain
Booklet published by the Merton Historical Society in 1994, 16 pages. A4 size booklet (N4722P1)
Mitcham is now an area of the London Borough of Merton, near to Morden and Wimbledon, and in this short booklet the author provides a fascinating account of her experiences as a child growing up in the area during the Second World War.
Those who remember the War years will have very vivid memories of all that happened... the sudden changes, like the house and family across the road not there next morning, or the 'culture shock' of evacuation. in this booklet Irene Bain remembers in vivid detail what life was like in Mitcham during the War, as it was for herself and her family, and for those who weren't there, this is what it was really like....
The condition of the booklet is generally good. The covers have one or two very minor scuffs and nibbling along the edges, but the staple spine is intact and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
