Brand New Book

From the introduction: The aim of this series of books is to try to gather all the available information on the history of the various gas works into individual volumes. The system used here is by counties, a familiar listing from the Victorian period is used, despite the obvious problem that in some cases counties have technically disappeared to be replaced by regional governing bodies or by having their boundaries re-drawn... The format for the books is the same and each of the gas works, or to be precise their owners, has various self-explanatory sections to recount their history.

The book is arranged as a gazetteer, with the entries listed in an A to Z format. There are 8 entries in total, each detailing a local gas company/works, and they include: Buckden, Huntingdon & Godmanchester, Kimbolton, Ramsey, St. Ives, St. Neots, Somersham, and Warboys. There is also a chapter on various small private gas works, several appendices, and a handful of photographs and illustrations. The length of each entry, and the amount of information included, varies.
