The Hunslet 1215 was one of a class of locomotives built for the British War Office and operated by the Directorate of Light Railways during the First World War. The Directorate used 600mm gauge railways to help supply the trenches on the Western front, and over the course of the conflict they transported vast amounts of material and men over a rail network that, at its peak, extended to over 3,000 miles of track!
