Horse-Bus Routes 1887-1906 , by Peter Davey

Published privately by the author in 2020, 20 pages. Slim square(ish) booklet - c.17.5cm by 20cm (N7832)

From the first inside page: Whilst attending a local post-card fair and browsing in a box of ephemera I came across a set of four time-tables which turned out to be the four Horse-Bus routes in Bristol. So, with the aid of the map opposite, I've tried to follow them. They are shown in red. By using some rare photographs and a few sketches by Fred Lewin, I hope this booklet will illustrate some of the locations on the time-table sheets. A part of each route is reproduced amongst the following pages.

The four routes are Clifton, Long Ashton, Ashley Down and Westbury, and the booklet is illustrated throughout with photographs and drawings. It thus provides a fascinating (albeit very brief) insight into the history of horse drawn buses in Bristol over 100 years ago....

The condition of the booklet is generally excellent. The covers are clean and bright, the staple spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
