Hemel Hempstead's Volunteer Company 1915-1919, by A.J. Ward

Published by the Dacorum Heritage Trust in 1995, 15 pages. A5 size booklet (N3452)

Condition of the booklet is generally excellent. The cover is clean and tidy, the staple spine is intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. Their is a miniscule amount of rusting around the staples, and a small price sticker on the rear side cover.

Although less well known, the Volunteer Force had a similar role in Britain during the First World War as the Home Guard had in WW2. This booklet provides a fascinating brief history of the Hemel Hempstead group of volunteers, by giving a short account of their formation, governance and actions, until they were disbanded at the end of the war.
